BMW Paddle Shift Retrofit Kit

This Kit will enable you to shift your Steptronic transmission similar to SMG with an OEM steering wheel and paddles. This Kit is German engineered and completely Plug N Play. No programming required!

Will this work if my vehicle does not have the round airbag?
Yes. If your vehicle does not have the round airbag, you will need the steering wheel, paddles, additional parts required and a new airbag. We do not sell the airbag but will let you know what the appropriate part number is.

What is the difference between the steering wheels?
Sports: This steering wheel is the basic model and contains no special features. Only compatible with SSG and SMG LCI paddles.
M-Tech: This steering wheel has perforated leather. Only compatible with SSG and SMG LCI paddles.
M: This steering wheel has the tri-color stitch and is a little thicker than the Sports and M-Tech steering wheels. Only compatible with SMG paddles.
* SMG LCI paddles have to me modified by us to function with the kit. Modifying the paddles is included in the price for the paddles.

What is the difference between SMG and SSG paddles?
SMG is classified as pull only paddles, where the left paddle shifts down and the right paddle shifts up by pulling.
SSG is classified as push/pull paddles, where both paddles shift down by pushing and shift up by pulling the paddle.

If I only purchase the kit, can I get the steering wheel and paddles myself?
If you choose to do so, we will send you the necessary part numbers needed for the steering wheel and paddles with the purchase of the kit.

THE TEAM AT MOTIVEMODS WERE EXCELLENT IN ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FITOUT, I SENT AN EMAIL ON SUNDAY MORNING SYDNEY TIME AND WAS SURPRISED BUT OVERJOYED TO RECEIVE A REPLY WITHIN THE HOUR, IT MEANT I COULD FINISH THE FITOUT INSTEAD OF STOPPING HALFWAY, THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE EASY TO FOLLOW, THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK ME ONE HOUR OF FIT OUT TIME NOT INCLUDING TIME OUT TO RECEIVE THE REPLY TO MY QUESTIONS, WORKED FIRST TIME, LOVING THE USE OF THE PADDLE SHIFTERS ESPECIALLY IN SPORTS MODE, A MUST ESPECIALLY FOR MY HUMBLY UNDERPOWERED 2LITRE BEEEEMER, I NOW DONT HAVE TO PUSH THE ECCELERATOR  TO DROP A GEAR

The retro kit itself was beyond perfect ! Everything fit and worked amazing with my car ! The owner helped me out and was responsive with any questions I had and even installed the steering wheel harness !

Recently ordered an e90 retrofit kit for my new paddle shifter steering wheel. I do tattoos for a living so needless to say i am an amateur mechanic at best. I do all my own work on my e90 but electrical is not my strong suit. I rand into a few snags while installing but i contacted motive mods customer service and they were able to walk me through it. They didnt treat me like an idiot which is great. Some companies tend to talk down to you when you have issues. Motive mods did not. They seem like great guys and their products are top notch. 10/10 will be recommending them to everyone i know.

Roger was very helpful, I pinched a wire on assembly and had scary faults.
He was very helpful in helping me trouble shoot and resolve my issue.
The retro kit works flawlessly I could not be more pleased!
I highly recommend this kit.
